Hey, pals!

We are Sarah and Samantha. We met on Twitter by chance a few years ago—specifically, Sam did a viral tweet during the Curvy Wife era that earned a follow from Sarah, and then Sarah aggressively pursued Sam’s friendship in the DMs—and now we’re actually friends! We even met in real life one time, see proof below.

This is something we’ve both wanted to do for a while, and now seemed like the best time to do it. Look at us! 

So what is this all about? Well, broadly, it’s just two internet friends staying in touch. We’ve both been drawn to one another’s writing voice for a while now, and we’ve also come to realize over the years that we also have very similar personalities and senses of humour. These are the reasons why Samantha thinks we are sure to go Substack viral with this newsletter (ed. Sarah: I also think this). 

We also live in different cities and already tend to write each other in long messages or sometimes voice notes. In other words, we already have a pen-pal relationship, so we are really just making our letters public. We’ve agreed that one of us will be responsible for picking the theme of each newsletter and we'll both write about it. The themes can be broad or as specific as we want them to be. That’s right, we make the rules! 

A little about us

Samantha is a Taurus who enjoys a light beer. She lives in Ottawa with her partner David, their cat Peanut Butter and Miniature Schnauzer Frances. She spends her days working her email job that she actually really likes and she spends one night every month cosplaying as a DJ. She is also a big Toronto Maple Leafs fan which means she is resilient and foolish. 

Sarah is a Libra who is more of an IPA girl. She moved from Toronto to Hamilton in late 2021, and has since been oft-overheard saying that, actually, Hamilton is really nice, and yes, she does like living there! A lot! She works as a writer at a small agency and writes her own newsletter every now and then. She also spends a lot of time rummaging through Hamilton’s many vintage stores and taking pictures of consoles she’s thinking of buying. She’s not sure what her main hobby will be if and when she does buy a console.
